Secure Use of AI & Confidentiality
To deliver timely, cost‑effective, and high‑quality services, the Firm may use secure, private artificial intelligence (“AI”) tools—including our internal Matter Intelligence (MI) system and vetted third‑party business‑grade services—to assist with research, drafting, analysis, and workflow. The Firm remains solely responsible for the representation, and a licensed attorney will review and verify any AI‑assisted work product before it is provided to you or submitted to a court or tribunal.
Safeguards
We will not input client‑identifying or privileged information into any AI tool unless (a) the provider is bound by enforceable confidentiality and data‑security obligations; (b) the provider is contractually prohibited from using your data to train public models; and (c) data is protected using industry‑standard security. We apply data‑minimization and de‑identification where feasible, restrict access to authorized personnel, and maintain audit logs and retention controls.
Vendors
Our MI environment operates on business‑grade services (e.g., OpenAI ChatGPT Team/Enterprise or API; Airtable; Clio). These services state that business/enterprise data is excluded from model training by default and are supported by data‑processing agreements and security commitments.
Court & Ethics Compliance
We follow professional‑responsibility guidance regarding competence, confidentiality, and supervision. If a court, agency, or tribunal requires disclosure or certification of AI assistance, we will comply and will not submit AI‑generated citations or content without independent verification.
Your Choice
If you prefer that we not use AI in your matter, please notify us in writing; we will accommodate that request, noting it may affect timeline and cost. Upon request, we will provide additional details about our safeguards and vendors.
Data Retention
Working materials are retained in Firm systems per our retention schedule. Where we call AI via API, provider safety logs are kept only briefly (typically up to ~30 days) and are not used for model training.
